About Mater Angelo Care Foundation
Compassionate Care. Empowered Communities. Dignified Lives.
Who We Are
Mater Angelo Care Foundation is a registered non-governmental organization based in Enugu State, Nigeria. Since our founding, we have been dedicated to improving the health, dignity, and quality of life for society’s most vulnerable members: the elderly, chronically ill, people living with disabilities, orphans, and underserved rural communities. Our model combines professional caregiving services, community health education, caregiver training, and policy advocacy. And one thing we have done over the years is ensuring that every person we serve receives the compassionate support they need, when they need it.
Our Mission
To expand the caregiving workforce and advance community-based support networks in Nigeria, offering vulnerable people professional, respectful, and easily accessible care.
Our Vision
A Nigeria where every elderly person, child, and person with a disability lives with dignity, receives quality care, and participates fully in community life.
Our Core Values
- Compassion: We listen, empathize, and act with kindness.
- Respect: We honor the dignity and rights of every individual.
- Excellence: We set high standards for our people, programs, and partnerships.
- Integrity: We are transparent, accountable, and ethical in all we do.
- Collaboration: We work hand-in-hand with communities, government, and donors.
- Innovation: We continuously learn and adapt, developing new solutions to complex caregiving challenges.
Our Journey
Founded by Rev. Sister Henrietta Uchenna Okafor and Rev. Sister Clementina Ifeyinwa Obisi, Mater Angelo Care Foundation began as a small home-visit service in 2018, responding to the urgent needs of isolated elders in Enugu. Four years later, we have:
- Trained and certified over 1,500 professional caregivers across 15 states in Nigeria.
- Served more than 800 elderly and chronically ill clients in their homes.
- Delivered 30 community health education campaigns reaching over 25,000 people.
- Hosted 60 family-caregiver workshops with more than 2,500 participants.
- Contributed four policy briefs and actively participated in two state-level health conferences.
Our evidence-based approach and strategic partnerships have allowed us to scale our programs rapidly, while staying rooted in grassroots engagement and local insight.
