Co-Founder & Secretary General, Mater Angelo Care Foundation
Rev. Sister Clementina Ifeyinwa Obisi is a devoted humanitarian and faith-driven leader who co-founded the Mater Angelo Care Foundation and now serves as its Secretary General. In her role she provides administrative leadership and strategic oversight, ensuring that the foundation’s programs stay aligned with its mission and values. Under her guidance, MACF pursues its mission of “compassionate care, health education, and advocacy for Nigeria’s elderly, vulnerable children, people with disabilities, and underserved communities”. This work reflects Sister Clementina’s deep commitment to service and social justice, rooted in her humble faith-based calling. Throughout her leadership, she combines professional expertise with genuine compassion, treating every individual with dignity and respect.
In her administrative leadership role, Sister Clementina oversees the foundation’s operations, governance, and partnerships. She collaborates with staff, volunteers, and community leaders to set clear goals and direct resources effectively. As a seasoned nonprofit leader, she takes on responsibilities including program planning, resource development, and community outreach. Her pragmatic leadership and collaborative spirit ensure that Mater Angelo’s programs are well-organized, sustainable, and continuously evolving. By setting a tone of integrity and teamwork, she helps the foundation grow its services while maintaining high standards of professionalism.
Beyond the office, Sister Clementina is deeply involved in on-the-ground outreach and grassroots engagement. She regularly visits project sites in communities around Enugu and other regions, walking alongside families, caregivers, and local volunteers to understand their needs. She leads and supports outreach initiatives like planning health fairs or caregiver workshops by embodying the hands-on approach needed at the grassroots. In practice, developing and executing outreach programs involves planning, budgeting, promotion, and training volunteers. Sister Clementina takes on these tasks herself whenever possible, making sure that Mater Angelo’s services truly reach those in greatest need and that volunteers and staff are empowered and equipped.
Sister Clementina is also a passionate advocate for caregiver training, disability support, and empowerment of vulnerable groups. She champions programs that train family caregivers, educate communities about inclusive care, and build capacity at the local level. For example, her foundation’s programs include training sessions and workshops for parents and teachers of children with disabilities much like the community-based disability programs led by Nigerian sisters that offer family training and awareness-building. These efforts help families understand disabilities, share concerns, and learn practical skills in a supportive environment. Rooted in her religious vocation, Sister Clementina’s approach is marked by humility and compassion: she listens attentively, encourages participation, and always treats each person with kindness. Her faith-driven commitment to service reminds everyone at Mater Angelo that their work is as much about lifting hearts and building dignity as it is about providing health care – inspiring the team and community alike.
